HOMEGROWN NEWS
4th ANNUAL BATTLE OF THE BANDS
Friday, August 6th - 11am to 3pm at the Beer Garden Stage
THROW THE FIGHT ANNOUNCE NEW LINEUP / NEW SINGLE JULY 20
(Minneapolis, Minn.) June 22,
2010 - The Minneapolis-based rock / metal act, Throw The Fight, have
announced a new lineup and digital single, which will be released July 20.
The band will carry on as a six piece and feature three guitarists. New
members include Brian “Stitch” Foster, formerly of Lava Records band,
Grade 8, on bass, Kevin Beck and Brooks Bohmbach, formerly of Minneapolis
metal act, Saving One, on guitars, and Jeff Baustert, brother of original
guitarist, Ryan Baustert, on drums.
According
to Baustert, “We had some members that couldn’t continue to tour full time
so it was time for a change. Not being able to tour simply isn’t an option
for us. We belong on the road. It was a mutual decision between the former
members and there is no bad blood at all. Having the new guys in the group
is great. The vibe is extremely positive and we’re able to take things to
another level musically with three guitarists.”
The group’s new single, ‘Bloodshot Eyes,’ is being released July 20 on the
heels of the band’s next full length, due out in the fall/winter of 2010.
Most recently, the group has been touring in support of their latest
release, ‘In Pursuit of Tomorrow,’ which has garnered the band solid
national airplay from college and active rock stations along with support
slots with today’s biggest acts such as Avenged Sevenfold, Sevendust,
Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Staind, and more. The track will be available
digitally via Itunes, Amazon mp3, Napster, and more.
Singer James Clark adds, “This release is a little foreshadowing of what’s
to come on our next album and some new music for our fans to have while
we’re staying busy on the road.”
Throw The Fight is the Minneapolis rock / metal band, comprised of James
Clark on vocals, Brian Foster on bass, Jeff Baustert on drums, and Ryan
Baustert, Kevin Beck, and Brooks Bohmbach on guitars.

The 2010 Ripley Rock ‘n Run features something for everyone! Head out to

“We had a tremendous amount of interest from local talent who wanted to
participate in this year’s Rock ‘n Run. We posted the event on Craig’s
List, Myspace and Facebook. We continue to receive calls from interested
bands wanting to get in on the action. We’ve narrowed the competition to
five great bands. These bands understand that this is a family-friendly
event and they all want the opportunity to be part of something positive
that supports our community” quotes John Schmidtbauer. Schmidtbauer, a
local musician himself, is donating his own time to coordinate the band
showcase event for this year’s Rock ‘n Run. The line-up of bands competing

Mineface, Crimson Edge and Whiskey Tango.

DRIFT EFFECT CLOSES FINAL CHAPTER
Just happened to hear the latest news from the Drift Effect camp that the
band has decided to call it quits after this weekends (April 17, 2010)
show at First Avenue. I haven't heard anything official but should
know more soon.
Until then, check back for more details.
BLACK DAYS DOWN SPLIT / FINAL SHOW
To all our fans,
Our last remaining show will be held at the Rock on May 15th. Brad has
chosen to leave and the rest of us are going to pursue other avenues in
music. Andy will be releasing a solo record and maybe doing some gigging
as well, while Kyle and possibly Matt will be touring with 3 Pill Morning
for a while.
We
will still be releasing whatever material we manage to finish for the new
record though! We still believe that this next effort is worth getting to
you, our fans, who have been patiently waiting for it, and it's definitely
a step up in quality. The release date and the medium are still to be
determined, but it will come.
Thank you soo much to those of you who pushed our music out there and made
a dream very close to a reality. We gained so many friends, fans,
knowledge, and memories that we'll never loose, and it's been an honor. We
are sorry it had to end now. Until we know more though, we'll see you May
15th at the Rock!
IRON THRONES WINS SCION NO LABEL NEEDED CONTEST
The
votes have been tallied, the producers, mentors, celebrity judges, and
most of all, the public have spoken. The winner of the No Label Needed
contest and series presented by Scion is Minnesota’s
Iron Thrones. “We’re incredibly excited for this opportunity to
become more self-sufficient as far as marketing and recording ourselves,
and to get our music in front of tons of new potential fans,” frontman
Adam Clemans commented.
Iron Thrones consists of Clemans,
guitarist/producer Steve Henningsgard, drummer Peter Clark, and bassist
Curtis Parker. Their sound is informed by bands such as Isis, Opeth and
Cult of Luna. The band was initially known as Everest, but changed their
name in 2008.
As the winners, Iron Thrones will receive a comprehensive tutorial in
how to achieve success in the music industry. They’ll be mentored by
Shadows Fall, record an EP produced by The Machine Shop’s Will Putney
and Machine, have new merch and website designs and much more.
However, the No Label Needed Series is designed for everyone to
benefit. Iron Thrones’ victory will be well-documented, with the
promotional partners giving advice not just to the band, but to any
reader of Metal Insider interested in learning from the best in the
business.
“We’ve always been outspoken about our independence and DIY nature,”
Iron Thrones guitarist Steve Henningsgard says. “We encourage all bands
to take full control of their own careers, and to utilize all of the new
technologies and tools available to them.”
Congratulations to Iron Thrones, but also to the other 19 finalists.
All of them are great bands worth keeping an eye out for.
HOLLOW FACE ON INDEFINITE HIATUS
"Due to unforseen recent
events, we regret to inform everyone that Hollow Face is going on an
indefinate hiatus. Thanks to all the bands, venues, and fans that
supported us over the last few years."
- Hollow Face
It does sound like there is a
new project in the works and as always keep you posted.

We wanted to let you guys know about a service we just started offering.
In November the game Rock Band is opening its doors to let anyone put
their own music into the game.
In the November premier of Rock Band Network, they hope to have at least
200 new songs up and ready for purchase. At Atomic K Records &
Productions, we have the skill set to author any song and get it in the
proper formatting to be uploaded to Microsoft’s server. Very few people at
this point have the software and know how to do this. We think it would be
very beneficial for your band/label to be one of the first to feature your
songs when the floodgates open. Please feel free to call us at any time to
talk about the details.
